Wednesday through Independence day weekend progress...

During the week, the cabinet guys came and installed the cabinets for us. Here are the during and finished pics:

During:

Cabinets finished!

While the cabinet guys were working, I was removing the ugly pink from the walls in the hallway, and then covering the crappy priming job covering up the ugly pink in the guest room.

Hallway Before

Hallway After

Then guest room:

It's a little hard to see here, but the walls are now the same pale green as the master's light walls.

Brent installed our new ceiling fan in the bedroom as well on Thursday - the master is now done except for baseboard touch up after the floors are refinished!

The three day weekend was incredibly productive for us, even though we took Friday off to rest our weary hands! Actually, we didn't really take the day off so to speak - we went to Ikea for counter-tops and window treatments. Our counter tops are so pretty - they are oak coloured butcher block - incredibly heavy, but just lovely. They match the white cabinets absolutely perfectly!

We also picked up a kitchen sink and faucet (taps for the Aussies) at Home Depot - very exciting, seeing on that one we got a great deal! The sink is cast acrylic instead of the white ceramic we originally wanted, and was therefore about $100 less, and we found a great faucet set for a pretty reasonable price :)

This is our sink here, and the faucet is almost the same, but in a brushed finish, to match our hardware on the cabinets.

Saturday, Brent went back to scraping the ceiling...unwillingly, but he went back to it. I am really proud of him for doing it! It really sucked, and seeing I am pretty much down to one hand, I wasn't able to help (yes, I am VERY upset about that!).

Here he is Sunday morning....realising he has to go back to it - but look! He's almost done :) He did an awesome job of finally finishing officially the
WORST job of the renovation thus far :)

I went onto flooring removal, which I am becoming quite proficient at :) The Peel 'N' Stick tiling in the bathroom had to go, as well as the 70's carpet in the hallway and guest room.

This is the bathroom, after the tiling came up...I can't get the before shot off my phone camera :(

Then the hallway, after shot:

Here is the ugly pink carpet before I massacred it! And then the pretty terrazzo underneath, just waiting for us to make it shiny again!

After the floors were all up, I replaced the ugly, gross, disgusting & cushy toilet seats with beautiful gleaming white ones!

The remainder of my weekend was spent trying to find the most productive way to remove the old lino tiles from the floor in the family room. There was huge amounts of sticky, sticky glue underneath, with no underlay...eek!

So I figured out a way that works, and I am powering along, until....

The original owners must have had carpet in the family room at some point, and then changed it out for linoleum...BUT, instead of listening to the experts, and NOT pulling out the tack strips (this makes the terrazzo EXPLODE into large GAPING holes!) they obviously yanked out the nails, causing MASSIVE holes all around the walls. About 100 of them, except for along the edge by the patio door, where they kindly left us an
entirely shattered edge (see pics below)
... it's devastating, really. It's recoverable, but it's going to cost us an additional $3.00
per hole to have repaired, OUCH!
