Brent did an awesome job learning how to solder copper pipes on the fly after the soffit came crashing down too soon, and hit a drain pipe...eek!
Yes, Brent broke my finger....but it was not on purpose and he feels awful about it!
Here is the kitchen after being totally gutted and re-ceilinged after removing the soffit:
Bobby & Mary came to help us out on Sunday afternoon, scraping the kitchen floor of the paper & glue, after they tore up the linoleuem (well the 2nd layer!). Bobby was a scraping machine!!
Then I continued the job on Monday morning and finished the kitchen floor! Amazing considering my finger was pretty painful!
Although at this moment i ALMOST gave in...but i DIDN'T!! :)
And we think we discovered the first of the reasons they covered up the floors in the first place... a nasty crack runs wall-to-wall in the kitchen - UGH! The terrazzo guy assures us it will be barely visible when polished...even if it is...hey, it provides character! :)
The finished scraped product looks pretty good...we're confident that the restorers can bring it back. Thank goodness the cabinets will cover the old cabinet marks!
Phew!! I'm tired ;)
